Julien Simon wins the 2022 French Cup!

To crown an excellent season in 2022, Julien Simon won the general classification of the French Cup on Sunday, eight years after his first victory.

A win built on consistency

To win the general classification of the French Road Cycling Cup, riders need to be extremely consistent across the 17 events of the competition. At almost 37 years of age, Julien Simon successfully achieved that performance, with two wins and five top-ten finishes:

  • Grand Prix du Morbihan (05.14) / Win
  • Tour du Finistère (05.21) / Win
  • Boucles de l’Aulne-Châteaulin (05.22) / 8th
  • La Polynormande (08.14) / 8th
  • GP de Fourmies (09.11) / 8th
  • Grand Prix d’Isbergues (09.18) / 5th
  • Tour de Vendée (10.02) / 9th

Julien Simon expressed his satisfaction after the Tour de Vendée:

“I’m so happy to win. It’s a great reward for the season I’ve had and my consistency. We’ve also won the teams classification, and that’s a great reward for everyone.”

To cap it all, Team TotalEnergies has also won the teams classification of the 2022 French Cup. An outstanding achievement for all the riders, staff and the General Manager of the Vendée team, Jean-René Bernaudeau:

“This is the result of a French Cup in which Team TotalEnergies performed consistently well. We are very proud to have won the individual and team classifications. This is what you can do with a stable, homogenous group.”
