Nicola Marcerou, the Team’s final recruit!

After four years in N1 with our reserve team, Nicola Marcerou has signed his first professional contract! Nico’ has seen several of his older brothers from the Vendée U Pays de la Loire grow up, and now it’s his turn to join the professional ranks for the next two seasons!

This year, the native of the Gard region finished in the top 10 on 21 occasions and also shared a number of races with the Team as a trainee: in France, Belgium, Germany and more recently in China. Several races in which he put in a lot of effort for his teammates and proved that he has what it takes to move up to the next level.

Since joining the team in 2021, the member of the Vendée U Pays de la Loire has made his mark with his desire to do well, his fighting spirit and his determination. A true road captain over the past season, he was exemplary in his humility and self-sacrifice for his teammates, both on and off the bike.

Nicola looks back at his signing, which was made official very recently:

“I was informed of my move to the pros on my return from China with the Team, which is a real relief. I’m so proud to be able to join the Team TotalEnergies, joining former colleagues from the Vendée U, starting with Rayan (Boulahoite) and including Baptiste (Vadic), Lucas (Boniface) and many others. I’ll also be joining some riders who have taught me a lot in the races I’ve lined up in over the last few weeks with the Team. I’m thinking of Lorrenzo, Antho‘ and Geoff’ in particular…

To be honest, I didn’t really believe in it, as I was getting ready to sign up for another season with Vendée U. Then I had a meeting with Benoit (Genauzeau) who explained to me that the team had confidence in me to switch to the professional ranks.”

I’m going to give it my all for the Team TotalEnergies, just as I’ve always done with the amateurs!

Nicola becomes the second rider from Vendée U Pays de la Loire to sign for the professional team for the 2025 season, after Rayan Boulahoite a few weeks ago.

Welcome to the pros, Nicola!
