Geoffrey Soupe Wins the Tropicale Amissa Bongo

It’s a first for Geoffrey Soupe: After 13 years of racing, the TotalEnergies rider came out on top of the general classification in a multi-stage race! Here’s a quick look back at this 16th Tropicale Amissa Bongo.

Geoffrey Soupe Emerges Into the Spotlight

Geoffrey Soupe’s special relationship with La Tropicale Amissa Bongo continues. Generally found laboring in the shadows to support the team’s leaders, Geoffroy successfully negotiated the week-long race in Gabon, where he scored his first pro win 12 years ago. This time, the Viriat native won the first stage in Oyem, gave up the yellow jersey after two days, and reclaimed it on the next-to-last day for a triumphant finish in yellow on Sunday.

A Team Success

The six Team TotalEnergies riders showed their collective strength and determination during the season’s first African race. With three stage victories, five podium finishes and numerous honorable mentions, the Team amply merits its best team title. This collective win will clearly boost Team TotalEnergies’ morale as it confidently heads into the next races of early 2023.
