Geoffrey Soupe Wins Stage One of the Tropicale!

Geoffrey Soupe sprinted to win Stage One of La Tropicale Amissa Bongo 12 years after his last success in this race. The season is off to a great start!

First Win for Geoffrey Soupe

La Tropicale Amissa Bongo was back on track this morning after a two-year hiatus, and a Team TotalEnergies rider took the spotlight! After pedaling 122 kilometers between Bitam and Orem, Geoffrey Soupe pulled ahead in a hilly final stretch that ended with a thrilling sprint, ahead of Louis Blouwe (Bingoal WB) and Antonio Angulo Sampedro (Burgos-BH). The Viriat native, more often found in the shadows supporting his team’s leaders, had his moment in the sun with this first success riding for Team TotalEnergies.  He now leads the general classification.  It’s a nice example of history repeating itself, since Geoffrey Soupe chalked up his first win in 2011 during Stage One of La Tropicale Amissa Bongo.
