Fabien Doubey takes the silver at the French Championships

For the second year in a row, Fabien Doubey has won the silver medal in the Elite race of the French Cyclocross Championships, after being narrowly beaten by Clément Venturini.

Two silver medals for Doubey

As a cyclocross specialist, Fabien Doubey delivered at the weekend’s French Championships. On Saturday morning, the lad from the Jura led the Bourgogne-Franche Comté committee to a podium finish in the Regional Committees relay. And this afternoon, he faced off against Clément Venturini (AG2R-Citroën). Out on the circuit at Bagnoles-de-l’Orne, the two professional riders fought an epic battle for the champion’s legendary blue tunic. Fabien held on bravely in the Elite race before finally losing by a whisker to his chief rival.

“I was fine with my third-row start. I was able to race how I wanted; I went into my bubble. I was pedaling well. Then I came up against Clément, and he just outpaced me. It was a great duel, but naturally I’m disappointed. I wanted the red, white and blue jersey.”

Three of the Team’s riders in the Top Ten

Four riders were competing for Team TotalEnergies in the Elite race that afternoon. Three of them fought their way into the top ten. After Fabien Doubey (2nd), Sandy Dujardin and Thomas Bonnet finished 6th and 7th respectively. Our four cyclocross specialists will now join the rest of the team in Calpe for road cycling training in preparation for next season.
