This year brings Valentin Ferron to the Tour de France for the very first time. A daunting experience in which the young rider might have been intimidated by the immensity of the event and the quality of the competition.
At the tender age of 25, the lad from Poitiers and long-time Vendée U racer turned in a determined performance. As soon as the first riders attacked on the first stage in Bilbao, Valentin joined the group and stuck with the leaders for some 110 kilometers.
After this show of grit and courage, true to the team’s values, Valentin is a happy man, after seeing the passion of the Basque supporters.
Valentin Ferron’s first impressions:
“The main thing is to start a good dynamic in the team for these three weeks [of the Tour], and today’s break achieved that. We didn’t get a result but in the next stages we’ll take the opportunities as they come and we’ll get there.”
“It was great being out at the front today, with lots of fans at the roadside cheering us on. A fantastic time on the Basque roads.”
