Valentin Ferron wins in Paris – Camembert

Valentin Ferron Confirms His Great Start to the Season with a Memorable Win in the 84th Paris-Camembert.

Tough Throughout

Ranked among the favorites for this year’s Paris-Camembert, Valentin Ferron made the difference under rainy skies after contesting a hard-fought sprint with Ewen Costiou (Arkéa-Samsic). Our young rider pulled ahead just 20 kilometers before the finish line, with his opponent right behind. Valentin tapped into his experience to win the two-man sprint.

This is Valentin’s third career win with the pros (the last was in Stage 6 of the Critérium du Dauphiné last June). This success in Livarot-Pays-d’Auge has also propelled him to the top of the rankings for the Coupe de France.

Winner’s Reaction

“It’s a race I know well and like very much. It plays to my strengths with successive, rather short rises. This was my fourth Paris-Camembert, so I was starting to get familiar with the terrain. Things took off pretty quickly, on wet roads with the rain. I broke away with Valentin Madouas 50 kilometers before the finish. The others caught up at the 25 kilometer mark. Ewen Costiou got behind me and made his move a little farther on. He was riding strong and we got on very well. I managed to pull ahead in the sprint. It was a great day for me and for the team. Our hard work these last few weeks paid off. It was all positive.”
