Five years after his second-place finish at Mûr-de-Bretagne, Pierre Latour equalled his personal best on the Tour de France in the ninth stage of this year’s event.
Two TotalEnergies riders in the Top Ten
Sunday saw the much anticipated stage between Saint-Léonard-de-Noblat and the Puy de Dôme, with a major breakaway. A large group of fourteen riders quickly took control of events. Out in front, two TotalEnergies riders were in fine form. Pierre Latour was beaten by just one man at the summit of the Puy de Dôme: Michael Woods (Israel-Premier Tech). His team-mate Mathieu Burgaudeau finished ninth. Two fantastic performances for the team, which will be looking for further exploits on this Tour de France.
The riders now get a little respite, during the Tour’s first rest day, and will be back in the saddle on Tuesday to begin the second week of the event.
