Bretagne in Four Acts

While the WorldTour sequence of races has come to an end, the month of May still holds plenty of key fixtures on the French calendar.

With a double Breton weekend on the agenda, Team TotalEnergies heads into this period with ambition. One shared objective will guide the team across all these races: to shine in the West.

Act I (May 9)
The Grand Prix du Morbihan will open the campaign, set against the backdrop of the Breton crowd and the iconic Cadoudal climb. It’s always a highly anticipated race for the peloton—especially for Pierre Thierry. A native of Plumelec, he will enjoy strong home support on familiar roads.

The course is also well known to several of his teammates. Fabien Grellier, Émilien Jeannière, Alan Jousseaume, Théo Lévêque and Nicola Marcerou have built their experience here over the years. All have tackled this climb before turning professional, notably during the Manche-Atlantique, an amateur race they rode in the colours of Vendée U. Grellier even took victory here in 2015.

Act II (May 10)
The following day features one of the most spectacular races on the calendar: Tro Bro Léon. Its 29 ribinou—the distinctive dirt tracks—make it as demanding as it is unique.

Between land and sea, the battle promises to be fierce, especially with rain once again a possible factor this year. After Anthony Turgis’ fourth-place finish in 2025, the team managed by Thibaut Macé will be aiming for the top spots. The traditional “best Breton” prize—an honorary (and slightly quirky) award featuring a piglet—could well be contested by Florian Dauphin and Pierre Thierry.

Act III (May 16)
The following week, the Tour du Finistère marks the third chapter of this series. It’s a region that has recently brought success to the team, with Mathéo Barusseau claiming victory just outside Quimper last week with Vendée U – Primeo Energie.

The professional squad will look to carry that momentum forward. Émilien Jeannière, third in last year’s edition, returns to the start line with ambitions of going even better.

Act IV (May 17)
Finally, the last round of this four-race block—the Boucles de l’Aulne—will highlight one of the riders most deeply rooted in the region: Thibault Guernalec. A native of Châteaulin, he will be especially motivated to perform on home roads.

Back in form after injury, he will notably support Sandy Dujardin, fourth last year, on a finale perfectly suited to puncheur-sprinter profiles.

These four one-day races, three of which count towards the FDJ United Series, offer Team TotalEnergies a great opportunity to score valuable points in the standings, driven by its Breton riders.

At the same time, part of the squad is taking advantage of a lighter race schedule to head to altitude training, preparing for the next key objectives of the season.
