Our climber from Jura, who is currently enjoying his 4th season with the Team and 12th professional season, has announced that this will be his last year in the international peloton.
After a few months of careful consideration, Alexis will retire from professional cycling at the end of the year, but before that and as he explains, 6 months of racing await him to perform at his best.
“This is not the time to say thank you or goodbye, but I wanted to share this news so that I can savour this final season to the full. It’s only April, and the season is still extremely long with a number of objectives to achieve for the team and for me, starting with the Grand Besançon Classic and the Tour du Jura. It’s a weekend that’s very close to my heart, as it’s where I’m from, and it’s a real chance to race at home in my final season. A real objective! The Classics of the Ardennes will also be on my agenda, and I’m proud to be able to do the Flèche and Liège with my teammates, whom I’ll be helping as best I can. Obviously, I’m going to do everything I can to perform as well as possible. Between now and October, I hope to be at the front as many times as possible.”
Recently named as the most combative rider on stage 2 of Itzulia Basque Country last week, Alexis Vuillermoz joins our oldest rider Julien Simon, who will also be hanging up his bike at the end of the year.
Alexis, we wish you all the best for your final season with the Team!
