It wasn’t Thanos our heroes were fighting today, but the clock.
On the shores of Lake Geneva, Team TotalEnergies took on the demanding individual time trial with determination.
Wearing a special HJC Iron Man helmet, Anthony Turgis was the first rider from the team to roll down the start ramp in Évian-les-Bains. A few minutes later, time trial specialist Thibault Guernalec set off towards Thonon-les-Bains.
The Breton delivered an outstanding performance, posting the fastest time at the intermediate checkpoint atop the Côte de Larringes. He spent a long time in the leader’s hot seat before eventually finishing 18th on the stage, once again showcasing his strength against the clock.
The stage then shifted to the general classification contenders, who unsurprisingly claimed the top five places. Jordan Jegat crossed the line 3’52” behind the winner and successfully defended his place inside the overall top ten. Following Florian Lipowitz’s withdrawal from the race, Jordan will start Stage 17 in 9th place overall. We wish the German climber a speedy recovery.
The next two stages are expected to suit the breakaway specialists, and Team TotalEnergies’ attackers will be eager to seize every opportunity before the race heads back into the high mountains.
