The 120th edition of Paris-Tours looked set to suit Team TotalEnergies. Seven riders, well suited to this type of race, lined up at the start with real ambitions.
With 49 kilometres remaining, the team was together and perfectly positioned heading into the finale. However, a crash involving the entire squad disrupted the race and brought its ambitions to an abrupt halt.
Among those involved, Thomas Gachignard, Anthony Turgis and Rayan Boulahoite were forced to abandon.
Medical update:
Initial examinations have revealed a range of injuries.
Anthony Turgis sustained multiple wounds. Jason Tesson suffered a knee injury and will undergo further examinations. Thomas Gachignard sustained injuries to his foot and ankle, while Rayan Boulahoite suffered chest and rib injuries. Both riders are also awaiting further examinations.
The riders involved in the crash will be forced to bring their seasons to an early end.
The remaining riders escaped with a few bruises and abrasions.
These injuries have disrupted Team TotalEnergies’ line-up ahead of its final stage race of the season, the Eneco Tour.
The team will line up for the Dutch event with five riders: Paul Conor, Florian Dauphin, Alan Jousseaume, Nicola Marcerou and Pierre Thierry.
Their objective will be to defend Team TotalEnergies’ position in the ProTeam rankings against Unibet Rose Rockets.
