Stage 2 of the Tour de France, from Vitoria-Gasteiz to San Sebastian. After Valentin Ferron’s first performance yesterday, it was time for seasoned veteran Edvald Boasson-Hagen to make an impression.
Edvald makes a break
Edvald Boasson-Hagen moved out in front quickly, with two other riders: Rémi Cavagna de Soudal – Quick Step and Neilson Powless from EF Education. The small group moved fast, extending their lead to five minutes. It wasn’t long before the three were separated, when Rémi Cavagna experienced physical difficulties during the break, leaving Edvald in a head-to-head against Neilson Powless, before both were reeled in by the pack less than thirty kilometers from the finish. A fantastic attack by our rider.
Steff Cras claims a first top ten finish
The Team’s big winner of the day was Steff Cras, a 27-year-old from Belgium, who stuck to the head of the peloton and fought off the competition until the last kilometers. He was rewarded with a first top ten finish, moving up three places in the general classification, where he is now sixteenth.
