Binche - Chimay - Binche

As its name suggests, Binche-Chimay-Binche 2023 (1.1) will set off from Binche on Tuesday 3 October, covering some 198.6 kilometres. On the way to Chimay, where the course makes a U-turn to return to its start/finish town, the breakaway will have 50 slightly hilly kilometres to get away to. After 121 kilometres of racing, the peloton will enter Binche and begin the final circuit.
The final circuit of Binche-Chimay-Binche 2023 is just over 16 kilometres long. Over three kilometres, as they cross the finish line, the riders are in the grip and exhausted bodies give out as the laps go by. But above all, victory in this Belgian semi-classic is often decided on the climb up rue de la Pépinière. With its cobbles and slopes, this slight climb in the final kilometre gives the strongest riders a chance to show their mettle. At the top, there are around 400 metres to go to the finish line, judged on the cobbled Place de Binche.
