The week that has just come to an end proved to be a particularly productive one for Team TotalEnergies. While victory was still missing to cap off this strong run of results, the team delivered an impressive collective performance at the Tour de Luxembourg, alongside several strong finishes in Italy and France.
A positive momentum to carry into the final stretch of the season.
A remarkable team performance in Luxembourg
With the end of the season approaching, the Tour de Luxembourg provided Team TotalEnergies with another opportunity to shine in a demanding stage race. Fully committed from start to finish, the entire squad delivered a particularly solid week.
Mattéo Vercher and Nicolas Breuillard immediately put the team on the front foot, finishing 8th and 9th respectively on the opening stage.
But it was on Friday’s third stage that the team produced one of its standout performances of the week. Pierre Thierry, Thomas Gachignard and Mattéo Vercher managed to move clear and put themselves at the front of the race. After a fast and aggressive stage, Thomas and Mattéo crossed the finish line in 3rd and 4th respectively, making a significant move up the overall standings.
The following day, Thibault Guernalec added another Top-10 finish in the individual time trial, although the stage did not significantly alter the overall classification.
Mattéo Vercher and Thomas Gachignard then rounded off the week with 5th and 8th places respectively on the final stage, securing their places together on the final podium of the Tour de Luxembourg.
Beyond the individual results, Team TotalEnergies also claimed the best team classification of the race — a fitting reward for the consistency, cohesion and commitment shown by the entire squad throughout the week.
Another strong showing in Italy
September continues to be a successful month for Team TotalEnergies in Italy, with five Top-10 finishes already this month, including Jordan Jegat’s second place at the Giro della Toscana.
Alexandre Delettre came agonisingly close to claiming his first professional victory with the team yesterday. Just a few millimetres separated him from the win, with the photo finish ultimately confirming second place.
Once again, Alexandre was able to count on excellent teamwork throughout the race. He looked back on his day after the finish:
“Paul Conor did a great job positioning us at the foot of the Agerola, and from there it was all about the legs. We found ourselves in a group of around 15 riders with Thomas and Joris, which was the ideal scenario.
Four of us got clear on the descent and worked really well together all the way to the finish. I launched my sprint with 200 metres to go, but I was beaten by just a few millimetres.
Of course, there was some frustration and disappointment at the finish. I’ve been getting close for quite some time now. We were so close to making the day perfect, but next time we’ll get it.”
Jason Tesson among the contenders in Isbergues
One of the final races on the French calendar offering a genuine opportunity for the sprinters, the Grand Prix d’Isbergues – Pas-de-Calais saw Jason Tesson once again mix it up at the front.
The Team TotalEnergies sprinter took 4th place, narrowly missing out on the podium and once again showing his ability to compete with the fastest riders in the peloton.
A positive momentum heading into the final weeks
With strong results across three different races, Team TotalEnergies continues to build momentum as the season enters its final stretch.
The final podium for Thomas Gachignard and Mattéo Vercher in Luxembourg, Alexandre Delettre’s runner-up finish in Italy and Jason Tesson’s Top-5 at Isbergues all contributed valuable UCI points — further consolidating the team’s position in the ProTeam hierarchy.
The final weeks of the season are still to come, and Team TotalEnergies heads into them with plenty of positive momentum.
