Seven stages into the Tour de France, the Pyrenees and the South-West are now behind Team TotalEnergies, who head into the second weekend of racing with no regrets.
The opening week has provided a wide range of challenges, from bunch sprints to the first major mountain battles. Stage 6, finishing in the spectacular setting of the Cirque de Gavarnie, marked the race’s first real showdown between the overall contenders. Despite the dominance of the favourites, Jordan Jegat, supported by his teammates for as long as possible, delivered a solid performance throughout the Pyrenean trilogy, producing an encouraging ride against some of the world’s best climbers.
On the sprint stages, Anthony Turgis consistently featured at the front of the bunch. Ninth in Pau and fifteenth in Bordeaux, he once again demonstrated his ability to compete for top results when the race unfolds in his favour.
Throughout the opening seven stages, Team TotalEnergies has remained an active presence in the race. Whether in the sprints, the mountains or the breakaways, the riders have been involved on every terrain. Mattéo Vercher’s and Alexandre Delettre’s breakaway appearances on Stages 3 and 4 perfectly reflect the team’s determination to animate the race and seize every opportunity.
As the Tour heads towards Bergerac for Stage 8, the outcome appears likely to favour the sprinters’ teams. But true to its attacking DNA, Team TotalEnergies will once again look to anticipate the race, aiming to be on the front foot with the same audacity and panache that have characterised its opening week.
